Hello Substack Family!
Thanks for joining me on this journey - moving what’s inside my brain into some sort of container for others to see - my Substack!
I’ll start here with a little about me, what I like to do and what I plan to use this space for…
I’m Abby, I was born a creative and maker. Art has always had my heart but my brain lived in Science much of my life. One day an obscure acquaintance told me I should quit my job to pursue design - so I did. Although fun, design was not all I was meant to do. I found Feng Shui and the combo felt right…
My Shui journey began and I saw the connection between our spaces and our selves. During this time I redesigned and built our home and was in a transitional phase where it didn’t feel settled. Through growing confidence around Shui and life I gave myself permission to do it wrong. This opened a huge door where I was no longer afraid to fail. It felt like magic. I found fun thrifted items, hung up things I had been too scared to hang on the pristine drywall, I added layers and interest. I added Us. Not all at once, but over time. Soon enough, I felt great at home.
Around this time I found Amanda Gibby Peters of Simple Shui. I decided to study with her and became a certified House Therapist in 2022. I was able to give reason to why my home had felt like such a transition (too little Earth, overload of Metal, no personal Tao, and on and on…). Through Shui I found insight as to what spaces represented what, and how I could further work with my home to support me and my family. House Therapy has changed my perspective on everything.
I am now more passionate about homes and design than ever before because I want to bring this feeling to everyone. Making a space beautiful is important but making someone feel at Home is immeasurable. I strive to designing what we see to influence the unseen. The energy of our space shapes how we feel in it - that is House Therapy and that is what makes a Holistic Home, this is Shui Magic.
