Dear friend and fellow summer-lover,
Welcome to my newest Love Letter - the love of Summer. Not just any summer, a summer of nostalgia… think short shorts and roller skates, sleep-away camp, the scent of Banana Boat sunscreen, salty hair… and no one on screens!!
Summer is sizzling and I’m here for it. Getting a little color on the cheeks (whichever pair you choose) feels good.
It may be ironic since you’re reading this on some type of screen but let me get to the point… get out of here and go make some memories!!
Roller skates in case you need a new pair…
We began this summer with basketball camp for my youngest. She LOVES it, but mostly I think she loves the fact that it’s held at a private high school where they get to hit the soft serve machine every day at lunch. This camp plus the fact that the school is around the corner from the house I grew up in had me in all the feels. I was misty-eyed as I drove past my old street, thinking about the joys of growing up out there. The nostalgia of childhood. Of long summer days, warm nights playing in the street until bedtime (which was definitely still light out).
There’s truly nothing like the nostalgia of an analog summer, the summers of our childhoods…
Each of these items says Summer to me…

The Goods that give the feels…
Real cameras…

Point and click this mini version might be even more fun or a polaroid if you’re impatient
Looking through a roll of film, not knowing what you’d find. So many terrible photos and a few gems. Dressing up for a photoshoot, or just bringing a camera along on an outing. Not seeing each shot was kind of the point…
Camps Snaps offers some retro fun with their point and shoot cameras - use my code ALMH7 at checkout for a little discount too!
Music, the sounds of freedom…
I will never forget my first Walkman (pretty sure I had this version), walking the rural streets of my neighborhood listening to Green Day’s Dookie, feeling like the world was my oyster, I don’t think I’ve ever felt cooler… There’s something about the sounds of our childhood that bring you instantly back. My sisters and I were definitely belting out a couple of 80’s hits this 4th of July weekend…
Ice cream and cold treats…
Remember the feeling of something cold dripping from your chin during a sweltering day? Leaving the pool or the sprinkler just long enough to down a Bomb Pop, chase down the ice cream truck or slam a drink straight from the hose (you know that taste when you read this).

Bring back the feeling with a vintage ice cream maker, or remember the Snoopy snow cone maker? You can still get a new version, not quite as cute or a version have actually makes shave ice… This Vintage Tupperware popsicle maker takes me back - everyone’s mom bought one of those at the neighborhood Tupperware party…
That summer sunshine vibe…
Sun-In in your hair, oil on the bod… This sunscreen company really brings it back…

Landlines…
Running to the phone still dripping wet, maybe the call was for you but probably just for my mom… that coiled cord wrapped around your finger if the call was from who you were hoping for…

It’s hard to bring back the landline but the vibe lives on with this handset and this coiled cord
That specific vintage aesthetic…
Basically any of Slim Aarons’ work is pure nostalgia

There are so many ways to say summer without words. What are some of your favorite ways?! Until next time…
Have a bitchin’ summer.

The landline coil wrapping around your finger, the snow cone machine– this was a nostalgic read 💗
There's something about a creamsicle that just takes me back. Loved this Abby!
